Market Insight #33: What Are LINK and CAKE?
Hello everyone, and welcome back to this week’s market insight after a long holiday!
Portfolio Update:
I bought roughly $336 of Bitcoin this week. This is now purchase 15 out of 20, with 5 weekly purchases remaining. The DCA timeline still runs into October.
I've also allocated roughly 2% to LINK and 1% to CAKE.

Market Update
Bitcoin's volatility is still compressing, and I'm waiting to see if and when it clears $83k. I was, and still am, waiting for that before cutting the DCA short and moving fully into alts.
That said, LINK and PancakeSwap are looking promising both fundamentally and structurally, so I decided to allocate a small portion, 2% and 1%, on top of this week's DCA. I'm keeping a closer eye on Chainlink and might swap it back to Bitcoin if it weakens against it, treating it more like a trade. PancakeSwap, on the other hand, is a longer-term hold. I see it as heavily undervalued. Don't get fooled by the name, it's generating over $3m in weekly fees and is one of the rare assets in this space that's fundamentally sound. I'm only allocating 1% for now given how volatile it can be in both directions, and I'll look to add more if it moves lower.
Education of the Week — What Are LINK and CAKE?
Since I added both to the portfolio this week, worth explaining what they actually do.
Chainlink (LINK) solves what's called the oracle problem. Blockchains are isolated by design, they can't see outside data like prices or real-world events on their own. Chainlink fixes this with a network of independent operators that fetch and verify external data, then deliver it on-chain so smart contracts can use it. It's the clear leader in this space, with almost all blockchain applications using it as their source of external information.
PancakeSwap (CAKE) is a decentralized exchange, meaning you trade directly from your wallet instead of through a centralized platform. It runs on BNB Chain, which is closely tied to Binance, and it's the dominant DEX on that chain by a wide margin. It's also deeply integrated across the Binance ecosystem, the largest retail exchange in the world, which gives it a level of exposure and reach that smaller DEXs don't have.
The plans stays the same.
